The Down and Out

short-story-thumbsI work with the down and out
Those that society have forgotten
Their full of anger and self-doubt
Cause the world thinks their rotten

It’s an unusual style of nursing
And it’s different every day
Drugs, depression and a lot of cursing
that is the prison way

There are many similarities
But done in a different style
To perform your task with complete clarity
And have patience, it always takes a while

Helping them to understand themselves
Working towards their future
into a depressing past you delve
Whilst they heal their hurt like a suture

The work is hard but rewarding
I’m learning so many things
Not to take face value accorsing
For you never know what a life may bring
