This workshop will cover key elements of dementia such as:
- Dementia: some types and statistics;
- Key effects of dementia;
- Changed and difficult behaviours: Key Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD);
- Unmet needs;
- Responsive behaviours;
- Strategies and approaches to reduce the occurrence of changed behaviours;
- Strategies and approaches to respond to changed behaviours;
- Key considerations: Rights, responsibilities and duty of care;
- Behavioural assessments and the principles of documentation;
- Self-care.
