Understanding, Preventing and Responding to, Changed Behaviours Associated with Dementia

This workshop will cover key elements of dementia such as:

  • Dementia: some types and statistics;
  • Key effects of dementia;
  • Changed and difficult behaviours: Key Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD);
  • Unmet needs;
  • Responsive behaviours;
  • Strategies and approaches to reduce the occurrence of changed behaviours;
  • Strategies and approaches to respond to changed behaviours;
  • Key considerations: Rights, responsibilities and duty of care;
  • Behavioural assessments and the principles of documentation;
  • Self-care.
